Teddy Bears Around the World

Jacob and Sam Bear are in the Rally Car.

Jacob won a prize in a colouring competition.

The prize was a trip to school in a Rally Car.

Patrick Malley the Rally Car driver drove Jacob to Elm Park School. Patrick made the car noisy, everyone stopping to look at Jacob. Jacob loved his ride it was cool.

All the children got to look in the car at school.

Sam was lucky to sit in the car too. He enjoyed this.

Repco who sponsored the competition gave Jacob $200 for Elm Park School.

Everybody wished Patrick Good luck in his racing.

Selena went to America. She took Sam Bear. It was a very long plane ride from New Zealand.

They went to Disneyland.

They met Mickey Mouse and Goofy.

It was fun riding in the car with Goofy.

Selena decided to take Sam for a ride in a little car.

They liked Disneyland.

Selena enjoyed dressing p in her Mickey Mouse ears.

They got very tired but they had a great time.

Sam Bear was going on a very special holiday. He was going on holiday with Hannah and her family. Their holiday was sponsored by ‘Make a Wish’, a foundation that provides holidays for sick children and their families.

Sam and the family flew to Christchurch which is in the South Island of New Zealand. Then they drove around the beautiful South Island in a camper van. Here they are inside the camper van, Sam is meeting a new friend, one of Hannah’s teddies. Hannah has her colourful jersey on as it is getting cold in New Zealand now.

It was autumn and all the trees were beautiful colours.

On the west Coast Sam went on a helicopter ride to visit the Tasman Glacier. It was very scary, but the glacier was very beautiful.

In Kaikoura on the east coast, Sam went Whale watching with Hannah’s Dad and her big brother Campbell. The boat was very fast. He wasn’t keen to swim with the dolphins though as he doesn’t like getting his fur wet.

You can see Sam enjoyed whale spotting, but he decided to stay safely on the boat as they were very, very big.

Unfortuately this was to be Sam’s last holiday with Hannah as his special friend Hannah died on May 12, just a week short of her sixth birthday.

Sam and all Hannah’s classmates and friends at Elm Park School will miss her.

Sam Bear went in the car to Lake Taupo with Caleb.

He went fishing in the lake.

He caught five huge trout.

He ate the trout for dinner.

Then he went to Rotorua.

Rotorua was smelly.

He saw lots of boiling, bubbling mud pools and lots of steam.

He also went Ten Pin Bowling.

It was great fun, but he thought the bowling balls were so huge!!

Sam bear went on a bus.

He went to Howick Historical Village. He learned how people lived in New Zealand 100 years ago.

He went in the teacher’s back pack.

He played with the hobby horse and the stilts.

He ate lunch with Caleb.

He visited the school room with his friends.

Sam Bear went to Pippins with Grace. Grace was going to be invested - she was going to become a Pippin. (Pippins is the Junior Guides Group in New Zealand.)

He went on an Easter Egg hunt. He got two eggs.

On Friday night he went to the school disco. He danced with the children. It was lots of fun. The children put a glow stick on his foot.

Sam Bear went for a bush walk in Murphy’s Bush.

He followed a sign to the bush path.He had a yummy picnic at a table.

He enjoyed climbing the trees.

He thought the New Zealand bush was very beautiful. Do you agree?

One day I went on a big aeroplane to visit Australia with Mrs K-B. I travelled over by hiding in her backpack.

I liked visiting the Sydney Habour Bridge and the beautiful Opera House.

My favourite place was the Wildlife Park. I saw a furry Koala sleeping in a tree.

I went for a ride on a massive shark, I was frightened so I held on tight.

I shared a branch with a huge scary snake.

I liked Australia but I was pleased to fly back to Auckland New Zealand and see my friends in Room 7 again.

Hello my name is Sam.

I live in Room 7, Elm Park School in Auckland, New Zealand. I have my school uniform on. All my friends in Room 7 are 5 years old and have just started school. It is February and summertime. In the summertime we go swimming at school. Here I am at the swimming pool with my class.
