Travel to China

A “virtual” trip where, through technology–blog, podcasts, videos and pictures— students follow faculty members as they actually travel in the target country.Teachers traveled in China (i.e., Hong Kong, Shanghai, Xian, and Beijing) for two weeks in December 2006. The teachers use imaginative contexts—the adventures of Jose the Bear, a letter game, and an Amazing Race for older students—for communicating with students and teaching them about China. The trip created a blog that contains written materials, podcasts, videos, pictures, questions and answers between students and teachers, and the Amazing Race and letter game clues covering 14 days of travel.
The blog will be used in future years for taking students on a “virtual” trip to China and studying specific aspects of Chinese culture.
